Menu Planning…Just a Big Tease

The weeone and I discuss the menu at our house each week. I find that if I give her some input she tends to be more adventurous in what she tries. Don’t get me wrong, I still can’t sell that kid on sushi, but it helps.

We select 6 meals and 1 dessert as of late. One meal is something there’s no way she’d eat, but I think sounds good and I make that on the night she has dinner with her dad. The other five are plenty to get us through the week as we’ll likely go out to eat at least one night.

I only choose one dessert because, frankly, I’m too darn tired by the after dinner hours to make dessert for the most part. But something like an ice cream, sorbet or the like can be made earlier in the day, and served for multiple evenings.

I’m going to try to start sharing my menu in advance. I know this is a big tease because I won’t always blog everything we eat. Sometimes it’ll be because it’s something we’ve had before, sometimes it’s because I don’t feel like photographing it.

Let me know if you LIKE knowing our menu, or if you’d rather be surprised when I post something new….

THIS WEEK

Tomato, Basil  Feta Galette with French Onion Soup
Fried Green Tomatoes with Fruit Salad
Pan-Fried Shrimp and Creole Mayonnaise with Tomato and Cucumber Salad
Savory Cornmeal Waffles with Tomato and Corn Topping
Pork Chops with Caribbean Rub & Mango Salsa with Garlicky Green Beans
Chili-Cheese Mac
Last Minute Tropical Sherbet

We choose which is made when in the morning generally so there’s no assigned day….stay tuned.

I like seeing the menu in advance. Maybe you’ll help me get back to menu planning instead of going to the store every damn night!

      Amy,

The menu does a few things. It helps keep me out of them damn grocery store I hate, it keeps my budget in check, and it allows me to plans several meals with similar ingredients if I want to use something I don’t typically and won’t use all of on one recipe.

Glad to have you peering in and if you ever have a suggestion….I know you are full of great meal ideas!
